CCR News February 2020

February 2020 Hello Members! http://www.canadacreekranch.com Manager’s Message I hope everyone is having a great start to 2020. January started out looking like we may have a great month of snow, but soon after the Trek and Trail Treats, the warmth started setting in. While we do have some snow on the ground, we just haven’t had the perfect winter-sports’ weather. Speaking of Trek and Trail Treats, I would like to extend a large thank-you to all the volunteers that helped make this event possible. I know the hours and commitment you provide to events like these, and it does not go unrecognized. Again, thank you! With events and volunteering, don’t forget the annual Winter Jamboree is coming. To stay consistent each year, always plan on the events for President’s Day weekend. You should find a schedule of events within the CCR News. I know that our Recreation Committee along with Julie Olds, our Event Coordinator, are always looking for great folks like you to help us keep this event going strong. If you would like to spend time at the beach helping with games or time in the Ranch House with family bingo, please be sure to reach out to Julie either at julie@ccra.club or 989-785-4201. At this time, all CCR members should have received both their annual CCR dues statement and the Montmorency Township winter tax bills. If you still have not received either statement, please contact the CCR Office at (989) 785 – 4201 or the Montmorency Township Treasurer at (989) 742 – 3619 respectively. Please remember right after Winter Jamboree that the Dining Room will be closed until April 24th. During this time, we will be eagerly preparing our area to accommodate for the Club License that was approved by the membership in Sept. 2019. The application has been submitted to the government and we are waiting on the results. Chef Nick and his team have been working to get the proper beverageware, equipment and supplies ready to go. We are excited to have the option to serve canned beer and bottled wine to the membership in a few short months. Just a reminder to all members that all artificial deer blinds must be removed prior to March 1st. All members should have ample opportunity to remove these. The hunting area has been shut down to wheeled-vehicles at this time. Please plan on having to get your blinds via snowmobile as I, and many others, are hopeful for some snow. Again, I ask all members to plan accordingly to retrieve these blinds prior to March 1, 2020. If you enter through the snowmobile gates at North Gate, Pipeline, West Gate, Homestead or South Gate, please close the gate behind you. Even though they are not locked this will help to avoid trespassing. Please do NOT go in or out of the property by going under the wires. Once this is done it becomes a trail for everyone else. As you snowmobile, please slow down when approaching or meeting others. Most of the time it is a member teaching a child how to snowmobile, a member showing the wildlife or a member enjoying all the winter beauty that the Ranch has to offer. Areas such as the Big Ravine or a steep hill take a long time to heal from a studded snowmobile track, so please do not ride there. Do not allow your guests to make these types of scars on the property. When meeting the trail groomer, please get off the trail to allow the groomer to pass. Always assume that the groomer is around the next corner when riding. As I always, I encourage everyone to use extreme caution on the lakes. The inlets, outlets and springs that feed CCR’s lakes are dangerous areas. Another area to use extreme caution is in the area of West Fence Road and Homestead Road. Currently, these roads are plowed with significant traffic from logging trucks and forestry treatment workers in the area. If you bring your guests up to utilize the club, be sure to let them know of all the benefits CCR has to offer. CCR’s new members are predominately your family and guests. You need to encourage them to take the next step in becoming a member. Remember, you are the membership champions, the membership marketers, the piece of the puzzle the makes CCR grow and last for many years to come. Take it upon yourself to bring in one new member this year, and for those that have started or completed this task for 2020, I applaud and thank you. - Brian Rogers 1
