Manager ’ s Message
Hello Members !
September has been a great month , and I hope all of you agree . The colors are changing , the elk have been bugling , and the bucks are starting to faceoff . Your club is a great place to spend your spare time during the fall .
The first thing I would like to announce is that Pat Earl has decided to officially retire and spend more time with her husband JJ . Pat started in July of 2005 after moving to Canada Creek Ranch . Pat has always been the voice of reason for many of the decisions made by management . Her empathy , humbleness , and kindness radiate day-in and day-out . She will be forever a front desk icon . Even though Pat has officially retired and will no longer be scheduled for work on a normal basis , she has agreed to help us out here and there . Pat , THANK YOU for your sixteen ( 16 ) years of service to CCR and its membership . You have been a great role model for many years , and I thank you for all the knowledge and wisdom you have instilled in me and others . As your unofficially adopted son , I am proud to see this day come and know that you will enjoy your time camping , fishing , hunting , traveling , and laughing with your family and friends . Congratulations Pat !
I would like to welcome the 2021 – 2023 directors that were elected at this year ’ s Annual Meeting : Matt Ames , Mark Boyce and Teri Logghe . I look forward to working with all of you throughout the next three years . For those candidates that were not elected , thank you for your dedication to CCR . Your candidacy for the club shows your commitment to this great place .
With this year ’ s proxy , came the approval of an assessment for gypsy moth suppression for the next three years . The assessment for 2021 will start out at $ 80.00 per certificate . The assessment for 2022 and 2023 will be a maximum of $ 80.00 per certificate but may come in less than that number . The assessment depends on if we spray or not , and what the total cost is to CCR . If CCR ends up not using the money in 2021 , the money will be held for future years and the membership will not be reassessed . Predicting next year ’ s invasion of gypsy moth caterpillars is very difficult and with the passing of this assessment CCR will be able to have a “ war chest ” of funds to be used for this specific purpose .
As some of you may know , Montmorency County is also looking at a one-year , one-mil gypsy moth proposal that could generate up to $ 500,000 for the county . This proposal will be on November ballot for Montmorency County residents . In a discussion with the Alpena
