to nature . With my son and daughter being the second generation , by showing and teaching them from day one how Canada Creek Ranch came about is the corner stone to build on for the future . I realize other member families have been here much longer than my 43 years and listening to them gives me pride from where this concept started and how it can move forward . Talking to members I get a broader feel of their concept of who and what we are to keep the Ranch ideals remarkably close to the original intentions . We must never forget how we got here , and what decisions were made to put us on a positive path that will continue for years to come . I will always put the best interest of the full membership and CCR first in any decision I make .
Question 3 : In preparation to be a member of the Board , for several years I have been doing as much as I can by review the monthly BOD meeting minutes and research , as best I can , issues that draw my attention . Expenses and Costs have been at the top of my list for many years . This has caused me to consolidate the Annual Financial Statements since 2005 into a single format to better understand the P & L of CCR . Over the years , I have talked to other members I have met and got their views on different topics . As you would expect , some have validity that warrant answers . Attending Board meetings in person or via the Webinar as frequently as possible helps me understand the viewpoints of others to come to a decision . As President of my Bowling League , from time to time , I am called upon to settle disputes and when necessary , reviewing the Rules and past precedent are used to work towards a reasonable solution . This same concept also applies as a member of this Board .

Question 1 : I keep up to date with the operations of the Ranch . I look for opportunities to save the ranch money when purchasing or projects are presented to the board . I ’ m also one who would like to do a project or purchase the correct way , the first time rather than just putting band aids on things . As a past home builder / remodeler I can bring a lot of experience to the table . My experience as a self-employed businessman adds to my qualifications to make good business decisions . There is not any room for a director on the board to bring personal agenda ’ s / special interests as a reason for running . My interest is to make good decisions for “ ALL ” members and to sustain CCR for many generations to come .
Question 2 : I always look to the future for my decision making . I am concerned about the short fall in the Capital Account / Fund . The future of the Ranch , replacing our capital assets as needed must be funded properly by the strength of the Capital Fund . CCR has been able to pay cash for all projects and capital replacements in the past and I would like to keep it that way . Please support the Capital Fund increase when voting your proxy this year . In 1954 my parents applied for Membership to CCR . I was 5 years old at that time . Once their membership was approved , we began our long involvement with CCR . When I was around 7 or 8 years old , I began tagging along with my dad hunting grouse and deer . I remember the first cutting / logging on the Ranch by Abitibi in the 60 ’ s . We hunted that area for deer . The next deer season I thought that it looked entirely different , which it did . However , our family saw more deer than ever before in that area the next season . We had a tremendously successful deer season . The legacy and heritage of CCR is forever imbedded in my mind . I couldn ’ t wait for my next visit to the Ranch . Once I could drive myself to CCR as a teenager I came to the Ranch many times by myself and sometimes with friends to show off the wonders of CCR . My young friends had never experienced the beauty of the forest and all that was offered at CCR . Some things will and have to change to keep giving members the amenities they have come to expect . But the legacy and heritage will never disappear if we all keep it in our minds and obey the rules that are made for all of us to keep it that way .
Question 3 : Honestly there is not much that I need to do to prepare to serve on the Board . I attend all meetings as needed in person , driving 192 miles from my home each time without burden . I involve myself in as many projects / issues as possible . I love working with people on a one-on-one basis and in person . I would truly appreciate your support to continue working for the members and making some very important decisions for the future of CCR .
