New Members Library Corner Happy December! We have a couple of good reads for this holiday season. First is Blessing in Disguise by Danielle Steel. Isabelle McAvoy gets an internship at a prestigious art gallery in Paris her junior year in college. There she meets a wealthy, older, and reclusive American named Putnam Armstrong. Isabelle spends time with him at his chateau. She heads back to the States to finish her final year of college and get her degree. All fall long she feels slow and sluggish and finds that she is pregnant. What happens to Isabelle? The second book was requested by a member and it is Dear George, Dear Mary by Mary Calvi. This is the story of George Washington and his first love, Mary Philipse. You will be transported back the 1700s. You will get a glimpse of New York in the early days and see what the young George was dealing with. Enjoy and Happy Holidays. New members, the Wrubel family. Hello to all at Canada Creek Ranch. My name is Gary Wrubel and along with my family, we are excited to be welcomed as members to CCR. As everyone knows, I have been coming up here as a guest for many years through the Ames family. Beginning this year, I have been giving it a lot of thought about joining as a member. This past summer, membership became a reality. The Wrubel family includes me, my two daughters, Ashley, Nicole and my son in law Nick. The family also includes two puppies, Leo and Penny. Gary currently resides in Grandville and works in the Commercial Construction field as a Project Manager. Ashley resides in Lansing and is a clerk for our state senate. Nick and Nicole reside in Essexville area. Nick works for Dow Chemical as a process packaging leader and Nicole works at McLaren Bay Region Hospital as a Laboratory Tech. We are very excited that even though we are scattered all over the state that we can come up here to our newly purchased family cabin and enjoy together what CCR has to offer. Our entire family enjoys outdoor activities which include fishing, hunting, camping, sports shooting and snowmobiling. Gary holds a Federal Firearms License and the whole family pitches in to sell all types of guns, ammo, and sporting goods. So if there is anything special that you need, don’t hesitate to contact any one of us. Our entire family is involved in many voluntary groups. Gary is involved with the Knights of Columbus and as a past grand knight, has had our entire family involved in many fund raisers they hold including a scholarship fish fry and also work very hard as a family to coordinate A Wild Game Dinner which benefits many charities in the Bay City area. Nick and Nicole work to secure the guns that are raffled off that evening and Ashley is the chair for the hors d’oeuvres. Ashley is also very passionate with the yellow ribbon guard’s Send Santa to the troops program which the wild game dinner supports. Gary was initially introduced to CCR via the Ames family. Through the years, my family has gotten to know a lot of the members, (too numerous to mention) and decided to apply for membership. We have come to appreciate the surroundings of CCR from the friendly atmosphere within your membership. We enjoy all the activities that CCR has to offer and look forward to a long standing membership and creating a lot of family memories here at CCR. 9
