CCR News December 2020 | Page 8

Hello Members !
I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving with your families . While it may have not been the busiest time around the Ranch House , the CCR Team served around 40 full dinners and around 10 individual dinners on Thanksgiving Day . I want to thank all those members that supported us and especially thank our CCR Team Members who were away from their families during this time .
The 2021 membership assessments should be mailed on or about January 1 , 2021 . These assessments must be paid by February 15 , 2021 to remain an active member . Additionally , your membership account balance will accrue a 1.5 % interest on the 15 th of each month thereafter . Please remember that our accounting system is based on a first in , first out formula . This means if you have a balance on your account prior to the assessments being billed , when you make a payment , it will be applied to the initial balance first , not your assessments . Our office does not override this process in any form , so please take note . This year ’ s rifle hunting season has passed us with no major incidents . Our numbers show that it was a very slow season for those choosing to hunt the Firearms Season . As Dale and I tallied hunters on opening day , we had 160 hunters cross Wilson Bridge . On my morning rounds of the CCR perimeter , I counted 24 vehicles . Without knowing the exact number hunters in each vehicle , I assume that CCR had approximately 184 hunters on or within a short distance of CCR for Opening Day . On day two of the season , we tallied 167 total hunters through Wilson Bridge and on the perimeter . With that said , our Firearms Log Sheet show that 11 bucks were harvested on CCR . Overall , there were 27 deer harvested on or around CCR ’ s perimeter , some of which were on other private property or State-owned land .
The process for reservations in any of the accommodations is the same as last year . Please see the related article titled “ CCR Reservation Reminders ” for additional information .
This year you will see little to no changes in our User Fees . CCR will continue to transfer monies to the Capital Fund for the future costs of replacement or repairs of our major assets . Fifteen percent ( 15 %) of all user fees will continue to be transferred to the Capital Fund for future repairs , replacements , or renovations . With this transfer of user fees , these monies will be earmarked for each amenity . As an example , let ’ s say you stay one night in a room . The Capital Fund will receive 15 % of that nightly fee for future overnight room repairs or renovations . This transfer will continue for all user fee-based services and amenities .
Please do not forget there is a $ 10.00 sticker fee for all member ’ s vehicles . This cost is per vehicle , per year . The funds generated from these stickers are utilized for CCR ’ s roads . This funding helps CCR pay for much needed gravel , salt , sand , and other needs each year . To receive your stickers , you will find a form on the back side of your annual statement to fill out . Add your assessments and sticker fees together for your full payment amount . Please return this form with your mailed payment . If you choose
Manager ’ s Message
8 to pay via phone , the office team will ask you for your vehicle information .
Canada Creek Ranch will be hunting elk from December 12 th through December 20 th . There are many volunteers out helping us manage the herd each year , and we thank all of you for your hard work . As a reminder to members , snowmobiles cannot be operated in the hunting area during the designated elk season , except with prior permission from the Manager . Rule 11.10 was put in place years ago for the safety of our members .
The Montmorency Township winter tax bills have been mailed out . If you do not receive these bills by the beginning of January , please make sure to contact the Montmorency Township office . The office phone number is : ( 989 ) 742 – 3619 . Quite often when members move to a new home , they forget to contact the Montmorency Township Treasurer to let he / she know their address change . Members should always change their mailing address with both CCR and the Montmorency Township Treasurer . CCR offers many easy avenues to change your personal information . You may contact us by phone , email or login to the website and change your information electronically .
During the month of December , the Ranch House office is closed on most weekends . Members and their guests needing snowmobile and vehicle stickers will need to contact the office during the weekdays . Snowmobile stickers are currently available for 2020-2021 riding season . If you get these stickers now , you will not have to worry about it later when you are able to find time to ride .
Just a reminder to all members that all artificial deer blinds must be removed prior to March 1 st . All members should have ample opportunity to remove these . The hunting area will remain open for all of December ’ s hunting seasons . CCR ’ s trails will remain open and will not be closed for grooming purposes unless the depth of snow would not allow vehicles to travel on them . After January 1 , plan on having to get your blinds via snowmobile . Please do not depend on any exceptions on this rule . I ask you to plan accordingly to retrieve these blinds prior to March 1 , 2021 .
Since I started as CCR ’ s General Manager , it has definitely been a different experience than I anticipated . The COVID-19 pandemic through all of us a curveball , but I think we have weathered it well . The membership as a whole was supportive and understanding in all of our changes and endeavors . I would like to thank the membership , the Team Members , and Board of Directors for all your support . I would like to thank Viki Kaszonyi and Mark Smith as they depart their directorship term . I welcome and look forward to working with Mark Boyce and Teri Logghe for the upcoming three years . The CCR Board of Directors worked very hard to keep CCR great and I appreciate all the hard work they put in throughout this year .
From the Rogers Family to you , we wish every member a Merry Christmas . I hope you all enjoy your time at CCR for the month of December .
