NEW MEMBERS Jylyna Bower I was able to discover who I really was, a part of nature. Every year opened my eyes to why not only my parents loved this place, but why everyone that comes to Canada Creek loves this place. It became more evident that I wanted my unborn children to one day, have the childhood that I remember. I want the tradition that my father instilled in me, to carry on. I am more then blessed to now call this place a home away from home, as it has been my whole life. My family and I will always be a part of CCR, for as long as it is possible. We cannot wait to share memories, get to slowly know everyone here, and have everyone get to know us. One thing I want you all to know about my family is that we are hard workers, but we play even harder. So, what better place to invest our time and passion, then at Canada Creek Ranch? Greetings to our new Canada Creek Ranch family! My name is Jylyna Bower, but soon to be Jylyna Duquet (my best friend and I are getting hitched this fall, and am more than excited!) my small, but mighty family include my fiancé Robert, our two dogs “Bubble” and “Bear”, as well as our sassy cat “Opie.” We currently reside in Clinton Township, MI which is a bit of a hike to Canada Creek, yet well worth the travels. Our plan is to move a little bit further north in the spring. The city life is not really for us. I am currently working as a permitting assistant for Allied Signs, Inc. which is one of Michigan’s top 3 sign companies. Robert works for Detroit Edison as a Service Field Representative. While we both enjoy our jobs, let’s face it... our real passion involves being in the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, shooting, archery, snowmobiling, enjoying a boat ride, and riding the motorcycle are really what keep us going. I have been in the outdoors and hunting from the young age of three. I was gifted a stick bow from Santa Claus, which lead me to the quick obsession of archery. Every day, with bow in hand, I would head outside to shoot. A year or two of showing my parents that I could be responsible is what then amplified my next gift from Santa; my very first PSE compound bow. Practice, practice and more practice prepared me for my many accomplishments as a young adult. From winnings in my 3-D archery league, being on the cover of the 1996 PSE magazine, a guest on Big buck night on Fred Trost Practical Outdoors TV show, articles in women hunter’s website, and articles in the Atlanta, MI newspaper for my very first buck. What a time to be alive! The hunting and archery world is a huge passion of mine. Going into my adult life, many of the perks and feeling like a small celebrity has died down quite a bit lol but I was still able to accomplish something else, that I will remember for the rest of my life. In Aug. of 2017 I was deemed the 2nd woman in Cabela’s history to be the honorary archer and open the store with their “shooting” of the ribbon. This meant a lot to me, to know that all my hard work, determination and skills were shown to what felt like, the whole world to see (even if it was just my small city of Chesterfield lol.) Photos Wanted: 2021 CCR Calendar Photos are wanted for the 2021 Ranch calendar! Send your favorite CCR photos, (high quality) , to Marion Wood at mjwood@src-milp.com. Please include the name of the person who took the photo! Send photos that are clear and interesting. Everyone prefers photos of scenery and wildlife. Unfortunately, we don’t wish to have photos of your family reunion or your beautiful grandchild smiling at the camera. That is one direction we do not want to go! If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, contact Marion Wood at 989-785-2996. ATTENTION SNOWMOBILERS Learning the ways of the woods, knowledge about whitetail deer, bear, turkey, and elk. Scouting, tracking, and wind direction, I wanted to learn it all, and that is what I did here on Canada Creek Ranch. Every year being out in the timber with my parents is where I learned everything. When my dad was stuck working, Webster Wood (whom is like a grandfather to me), another resident here on CCR, would take me under his wing to either go hunting or teach me a thing or two. He and my father have literally taught me all they know about hunting, and survival tips that I will keep with me for a lifetime. This place means the world to me, I’ve been coming to CCR for as long as I can remember. My dad, Tony Zedan became a CCR member years and years ago, he was sponsored by Joe and Willowdene Zedan, whom were residents here. I remember each summer and fall I could not wait to go to my favorite piece of paradise. Being here Snowmobilers, please stay off cross-country ski trails marked with small blue triangles. Examples inlcude 2 Mile Loop around the campground, Wadsworth Bridge to Little Joe Lake and Log Jam, and Wadsworth Bridge to Montague Creek. 10
