President’s Message: July 2019 Summer at the Ranch is in full swing! At this writing, the annual Beach Bash is just days away. We’ve got a wide range of activities (and some great food and live music) ready for you and your family to enjoy. Here’s hoping you can join in the fun and good fellowship. Last month’s message included some basic information about the new Strategic Plan and how member feedback from workshops and the 2018 survey was used to create specific goals to be achieved. You can read all the 2018 survey results on the first page of the “Member Items” tab on our website. One of those member-driven goals for 2019 is to apply for a “Club License” from the State of Michigan that will allow us to sell beer and wine in the Ranch House dining room. This goal was derived from three questions asked on the 2018 survey: • Q. 54: If selling beer and wine in the Ranch House dining room had a positive financial impact on CCR operations, I support the application for a liquor license. o 63% favored applying for the license o 9% were neutral o 28% disagreed with applying for a license • Q. 55: If it was financially in the best interest for CCR to sell alcohol in the dining room, I believe a beer and wine only license is the most appropriate. o 55% favored beer and wine sales o 17% were neutral o 28% disagreed with selling beer and wine • Q. 56: If it was financially in the best interest for CCR to sell alcohol in the dining room, I believe a beer, wine and spirits license is the most appropriate. o 37% favored selling beer, wine, and spirits o 23% were neutral o 40% disagreed with selling beer, wine, and spirits Based on the favorable member responses to Questions 54 and 55, you’ll be asked to approve a Proxy issue permitting the Board to apply for a “Club License” from the State to sell beer and wine in the Ranch House dining room. Because the response to Question 56 was less favorable, there is no plan to sell spirits. Our management team has created a comprehensive Service Plan that contains all the details connected with serving beer and wine in the dining room. Key elements of the Service Plan and a list of Frequently Asked Questions will be made available to you well in advance of the Sept. Proxy. We’re using a multi-media approach to make certain you can be fully informed before voting on this issue. If you have questions after reading this information, please contact me, Eric Johnson, Brian Rogers, or any Director. Enjoy July at the Ranch! As always, I invite your comments or questions on these messages. Respectfully, Ray Karbon 4 th of July 3D Archery Shoot (July 7, 2019) The weather for the day was perfect to test the skills of 25 archers on the 3-D targets at the Pete Thomas CCR archery range. Their equipment ranged from compounds, recurves and longbows. Everyone had a great time. After the shoot the archers were awarded with door prizes. The 50/50 prize of $46 was won by Gary Kirsh of which he donated $41 dollars back to the archery committee. Gary Zechel donated some archery hunting accessories for door prizes. The archery committee thanks both of them for their donations. Thanks to all the people who helped to set up the 3- D targets on the course. Have a safe summer and shoot straight.
