Grace C. Adams
Grace C. Adams of Atlanta, formerly of Armada, passed away
peacefully at Medilodge of Rogers City on Wednesday, May
1, 2019 at the age of 100 years.
This month’s books are very different, but both
involve a journey. The Road Home by Richard Paul
Evans is the third in a trilogy about Charles James
walking Route 66. This book takes you from
Amarillo, Texas to Santa Monica pier and beyond.
Charles James was reported dead in a plane crash,
so he is taking the time to walk and reflect on his
live and what he wants to do in the future. This
book fills you in on the important connections of
the other two books, you can just read this as a
standalone book. You will see humanity in some of
its many and varied forms and come away amazed.
Grace was born on February 2, 1919 in Listwell, Ontario. She
was a daughter of Otto and Minnie (nee Beck) Justus. On
August 30, 1941, she married Eugene Adams at Augsburg
Lutheran Church in Detroit. She was a former member of
Memphis Free Methodist Church and a current member of
New Beginnings Ministries in Hillman. Grace enjoyed
reading and writing letters. She will be greatly missed by her
loving family and all who knew her.
Grace has been a member of Canada Creek Ranch since 1967.
Grace is survived by her children, Eugene (Diane) Adams,
James (Marie) Adams, Dennis Adams, Timothy (Catherine)
Adams and Jerry Adams; grandchildren, James, Scott, Jennifer,
MyLynn, Jon, Jessica, Erica, Tim, Madison, Renee, Larry,
Shelden, Jennifer, Dawn and Jeff; great-grandchildren,
Alexandra, Autumn, Harrison, Alexis, Chloe, Nina, Isabella,
Ethan, Olivia, Peter, Jacqueline, Cole, Craig, Abby, Domnic,
Aubrey, Abigail, Kate, Caleb, Micah, Arabelle, Braden, Nolan
and Jerrold; and great great-grandchild, Camren. Grace was
predeceased by her beloved husband, Eugene; daughter, Lois
Null-Yoder; son, William Durnion; grandson, Brandon;
daughter-in-law, Diane Adams; brothers, Edward Martin and
George Martin; sister, Doris Heggarty; and parents.
How to forget by Kate Mulgrew is a very hard book
to read. It’s the story of the passing of her parents.
First her father and then her mother. This book
takes a look at Kate’s childhood and makes you
reflect on your own. We all think that we had a
normal childhood, because that’s our frame of
reference. My upbringing was so far removed from
hers that is it hard to call both normal.
Enjoy your summer reading. Remember you only
have to check out hardcover books that have a
pocket in the front. Please leave the cards standing
up in the little metal box. Don’t forget the Book Sale
down at the beach on Beach Bash morning. The
best bargains in books you’ll find anywhere. Again,
Thanks for all your support and donations.
