BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING UPDATE
To recent visitors, our forest and roads might not look much different than they did before the ice storm of 2025. That’ s because so many of our members and staff took it upon themselves to work long, back-breaking hours to get Canada Creek Ranch up and running again. I will never be able to express enough gratitude for all of our selfless CCR volunteers and staff.
There is still much to do in both the cabin area and on the property. We need volunteers with chainsaws to help in many areas. The worry, of course, is that all the remaining debris will pose a fire hazard this summer. We encourage all members to clean up their lots to reduce the amount of fire accelerants that remain on the ground.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
Our annual financial audit was presented by our external independent auditor. I am happy to report that we were presented with a totally clean audit. There were no issues to discuss. The presenting CPA praised our practices and our staff for their work and the ease at which they were able to access all CCR’ s financial records. One major point was how the operating expenses for 2024, were almost the same as 2023, which presents excellent expense management by all involved. With that said, our investment income is what is keeping CCR financially strong, without it, our funds would show a loss. This is just another reason that we need to keep looking at ways to shore-up the our funds, including the Resource Fund.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
The Campground Committee announced three wonderful events:
• June 28th Pork Bash and Pie Auction
• July 12 th Ice Cream Social
• August 30 th Camper Trick or Treat
President’ s Message
1
The Historical Committee continues to report progress on the new Canada Creek Ranch Museum. They are actively looking for volunteers to sort through artifacts and organize displays, especially volunteers who may have library or display experience. If interested, please contact any committee member or the office. SPECIAL NOTE: Please DO NOT put trash or bottles in the recycling trailer.
The Elk Hunt Subcommittee recommendations were approved. They also report that additional post-storm clean-up is still needed.
ITEMS RAISED BY MEMBERS
To help minimize dust, all members are asked to slow down on CCR roads. Currently, it is difficult to have our roads treated for dust due to a lack of resources following the ice storm.
The intersection at Bridge Trail and Hilltop Trail has always been a difficult and hazardous intersection. A member asked that we make this a four-way stop to help alleviate this. The situation has been referred to the Safety and Security Committee for review and recommendations.
It was also reported that some native grasses planted around the fields and food plots are obscuring wildlife viewing. This concern was referred to the Conservation Committee.
TOWN HALL MEETING
Another Town Hall regarding the Resource Fund was held in the afternoon. Although we had a very light showing of members, there was great discussion and the FAQ document continues to be updated with more information. We will hold additional Town Halls so that as many members as possible can get their questions answered. The Board will make a decision regarding a potential proxy vote at our June meeting.
Your next CCR Board meeting will take place via Zoom on June 19 th at 7 p. m.
