DEATH NOTICES
Constance F. “Connie” Glasslee
Robert “Bob” Nitz
Constance F. Glasslee, “Connie”, age 57, of Saginaw and Canada
Creek Ranch, died on Saturday October 20, 2018 at her home in
Northern Michigan. The daughter of Richard and Eva
(Carpenter) Perry, Constance was born in Flint on October 9, 1961,
was raised in Atlanta, and graduated from Atlanta High School in
1979. Connie married James H. Glasslee on May 23, 1981 and they
made their home in Saginaw where Connie worked from home
as a hairdresser.
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Robert “Bob”
Nitz, 67, of Naples, Florida and Atlanta, Michigan, died September
25, 2018 at Hiland Cottage Hospice in Petoskey.
Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of George and
Elizabeth (Lentz) Nitz. He grew up in Madison Heights and
attended college at Ferris State. Bob was a member of the Pi Kappa
Alpha Fraternity.
On September 13, 1981, he married Carol Lubowicki in Leonard,
Michigan.
Connie’s love for the outdoors and nature was evident as she and
Jim rarely missed a weekend at the home they built together at
Canada Creek Ranch near Atlanta. Connie loved to take long
walks through the woods, cross-country ski and ride snowmobiles
on the wooded trails of Northern Michigan, and in the warm
summer months she always enjoyed spending the day boating. A
bit of an artisan, Connie and her sisters enjoyed making jewelry
from antique silverware.
With her cheerful disposition, Connie had many friends. She
was devoted to her family, but also, with her caring heart, looked
after everyone she knew. She was a loving wife, a wonderful
mother, and a grandma who adored her grandchildren. Connie’s
beautiful smile and zest for life will sadly missed and fondly
remembered.
Surviving Connie is her husband of 37 years, Jim Glasslee of
Saginaw and Canada Creek Ranch; daughter, Sarah (Kyle) Moir
of Williamsburg; son, Joe Glasslee of Saginaw; and the
grandchildren who captured her whole heart, Addy and Jack.
Connie also leaves her sisters, Linda Glenn of Canada Creek Ranch,
Sherry Baker of Tennessee, and Roxanne Michiels of Florida.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents.
Bob worked for McKesson Corporation selling medical supplies
and retired in 2013 after 32 years. Golf was a priority in retirement.
Bob was an avid fisherman and collector of fishing memorabilia.
Most importantly, Bob was a friend of Bill W. and had 38 years of
sobriety. Bob would never turn away a chance to listen and help
a person in need. He was very humble when no one was watching.
He had a knack for letting people know in his own little ways just
how special they were to him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Rob (Rachael);
granddaughter, Maddie; brother, David; nieces and nephews,
Christopher, Steven, Lauren, Jennifer, Valerie, Ryan, Carrie and
Margo; God children, Reece and Katie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jim.
The Nitz family would suggest memorial donations in Bob’s
memory to Alcoholic’s Anonymous and the Father Fred
Foundation.
Private services will be held in Traverse City and Detroit at a later
date. A tree will be planted in his memory at his beloved cabin.
A memorial service will be held at the Wesleyan Church, 2125
Shattuck Road, Saginaw, MI 48603 at 11:00 a.m. on Monday
October 29, 2018. Pastor Bob Tibbits will officiate. Those planning
an expression of sympathy please consider a donation in memory
of Connie to the American Cancer Society or to McLaren Home
Care and Hospice for Hospice of the Sunrise Shore, c/o McLaren
Northern Michigan Foundation, 360 Connable Ave., Suite 3,
Petoskey, MI 49770. Condolences may be shared with Connie’s
family at www.chagnonfh.com.
