New Members Hello all from CCR, We are the Parker Family Jeremy, Amber, Madi, Gage, Titan, and Avery. Amber and I represent the 4 th generation and Madi, Gage, Titan, and Avery represent the 5 th generation to visit Canada Creek. My Great Grandfather and Grandfather were original members and their names can be found on the board at the clubhouse. My parents are current members and have a cabin on Dowsett Trail, the same cabin our family has visited since the 1930’s. I currently work for the Michigan Department of Corrections, served in the United States Marine Corps with some of America’s finest individuals and recently earned my Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Amber is a Registered Nurse at the University of Michigan Mott’s Children’s Hospital and is in the process of earning her Master ’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. We are very excited to have reached a place in life that allows us to be able to participate in a wonderful place like Canada Creek Ranch. I have been coming to Canada Creek since birth, but our family has been coming to Canada Creek since 2003 shortly after my return from serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 3 rd Battalion 1 st Marines. Amber is a native of Southern California and I remember her apprehension about CCR during her first visit because of how far it was from urban areas. She has since fallen in love with CCR and enjoys the summer months, especially the time with family on the beach and around the fire. We spend the majority of our time chasing kids all around to different events they participate in. Track, football, wrestling, soccer, volleyball, and plans for a couple of more sports in the future fill our schedule year round. Church is a weekly refuge from the world for our family, but CCR provides a quiet place for them to escape with no cell phones to distract them. They enjoy time at the beach, riding their bikes, kayaking, swimming, and seeing wildlife. Hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa has its advantages as well, especially the increase of sugar in their diet. Our oldest has recently made her first solo trip to CCR and it is very exciting to see the tradition continue. I have recently started to hunt at CCR and had great success last season shooting a large 10 point with my bow. This is what really set the priority for me to become members and truly commit to making CCR an official part of our family’s lives. We plan to use the family cabin and the campground as our family is a big fan of camping. We all love to fish and enjoy the wildlife of CCR on walks and drives out back. Becoming members was important so we could participate in all that CCR has to offer and enjoy what the generations before us made available. New Members: Jeremy Parker Family. Ranch Member, Gavin Booher Gavin was extremely fortunate to be selected for a bull tag for the early hunt. The rest of us hunters know that you can go a lifetime with getting this opportunity. On September 29th, which was Gavin’s 10th day of the hunting season, he met up with this awesome herd bull in the Green Timbers area near Vanderbilt. As we approached the field’s edge a calf was spotted. We let out a cow call which was immediately responded with a bugle. Gavin setup and waited for an opportunity to present itself. From behind a cluster of trees and underbrush, the herd began to appear. The lead cow was followed by a few others and then the bull came into sight. Another quick call paused the bull and Gavin was able to drop him in his tracks in the early morning light. Supported by his dad (Jason Booher) and grandpa (Bob Kotarak) as scouts, this 2018 Michigan elk hunt was an experience of a lifetime! GREEN BOX HOURS Wed. Noon - 2 p.m. Sat. 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Sun.
