Presidents Message

Happy Fall, everyone! I am grateful that the extended Summer weather has allowed us all to get some more clean up done around our cabins and homes.
The board meeting was relatively short with a few important decisions made.
After approving a 3.04 % increase for the 2026 operating assessment per our bylaws, the Board is are now in the process of creating the 2026 budget. We will be having many Board workshops in the next few weeks to consider the various options available to balance the CCR budget for next year.
Joe Wozniak also suggested that, if so inclined, members can choose to make $ 200 donations to address the shortfall in the CCR Resource Fund.
A CCR task force, chaired by Board member Cameron Geralds, is discussing the potential use of E-bikes, scooters and power wheels at Canada Creek Ranch. They are reviewing all applicable Michigan laws, and will develop recommendations for further discussion.
Following CCR Fire Chief Jones’ request, the Board approved a transfer of CCR Fire Brigade custodial funds to the Hillman Area Firefighters Association.
We had several committee reports:
• Our Ladies Auxiliary hosted a wonderful Italian feast with very festive Italian decor.( So glad Rock and I could attend.)
• The Historical Committee is now sorting through a myriad of donated historical documents. It’ s exciting to see the building phase nearing completion.
• The CCR Campground committee submitted information to the Board regarding campground rates. The Board will study the submission as we continue to discuss various 2026 balanced budget proposals.
• The Property Owners Committee is still asking members to clean up their lots after last winter’ s historic ice storm.
• The Recreation committee had a great chili cookoff and Trunk or Treat following the Board meeting. Such a fun tradition.
• Kerry Frey is the new Chair of the Long Range / Strategic Planning Committee. This committee will be looking for new ways to sustain the Ranch, study member amenities, and identify financial opportunities for the Ranch in the coming years. Previous committee plans will be the baseline for their discussions. I am excited to see this process unfold over the next year.
Our next Board meeting will take place on November 8th.
