CCR News November 2025 | Page 11

Our October Committee Meeting was exciting because we were able to see some of the timeline plans Perry Cooper, our Curator, is preparing for two walls of the museum which moves through CCR historical events and changes. His design for the double-door entry, which will be laser burned into the wood is stunning. We discussed and agreed upon the wall treatment for the outer adjoining wall to the dining area – other details of that area are still in the planning stage. We saw samples of various designed display cases available and are doing the research and price comparisons.
We heard some updates and plans for the content of the museum from the Committee such as CCR history of hunting, fishing, forestry, wildlife, the early Homestead and Logging Camp, Cook’ s Corner well & pump located at Dowsett and Ferguson Trails, oldest cabins and nicknames for them, shooting sports, the Teen Club and the major fires here on CCR just to name some subjects. We had a 2-day workshop on Oct. 6 th-7 th and reviewed some of the artifacts we have and learned more are coming from our members. Sorted, rearranged and discarded items.
Museum Historical Corner
We have installed shelving in the museum storage closet and will be moving some materials and artifacts out of the boiler room.
We are very interested if finding photos of the“ horse barns” either location – hunting area or south of the ranch house. We also are searching for a photo of the“ First Nighter” cabin at the bottom of the hill on Lake Geneva.
Please share with us if you have any of these – we’ ll be happy to take a picture of your photo so you won’ t have to give it up.
Members, have you noticed the outside wall of the museum structure has all the siding up now. A few minor items inside are being finished up.
We hope to have a“ soft opening” of the museum for everyone around Memorial Day. It’ s exciting to see things finally coming together for this project – a shout out of thanks to all the people that have helped make this happen!
