Lisa Durie
Hello Canada Creek Ranch ! I am Lisa . I have been coming up to the ranch for over 40 years . My parents , Bob and Glory Elliott , have retired here on Hilltop Trail . They are 2 of the best people on the planet . One good thing about Covid-19 is that I was able to quarantine with my parents . Thankfully , we are currently healthy and vaccinated ! What I thought might be a temporary living situation , has come to be permanent living situation . I work in medical billing and am studying for my medical auditing certification . While I am not much of a hunter or fisherman , I truly enjoy our Ranch ’ s beach and trails . I love hiking with my dog , Minnie . While I hike , I look around and see pictures of my past . As a child-teen , I had so much fun at the beach bash and winter jamboree . There are only good memories here ! As I have gotten older , I have brought my daughters here who have enjoyed our beautiful ranch . Now , my most precious granddaughter comes up and is able to experience the wonders of Northern Michigan . I am the very proud mom of two Michigan State University ( GO GREEN ) graduates and one very beautiful 8-year-old granddaughter . If you see a girl with a Beagle / bulldog mix on the roads say Hi !
The Manzagol Family
Hello Canada Creek Ranch . I ’ m Tom Manzagol , and my family includes my wife Julie , and two sons – Tate and Mitchell . We currently reside in St Johns , MI and have a year-round cabin on Turk Lake , just North of Greenville , MI where we spend most of our weekends . My friend and neighbor , Ray Moon has been a member at CCR for quite a few years , and Ray was the one who got me interested in becoming a member and he has brought me up several times to tour the property and facilities . Ray also introduced me to Ron Flores this year , who had subsequently introduced me to skeet shooting at the range … something I ’ m still working at improving .
The family enjoys a range of outdoor activities , including hunting , fishing and boating , and in addition to those activities , I ’ m also a member and hunter safety volunteer instructor at Flat River Conservation Club in Greenville , MI . Additionally , I ’ m a member of the American Rimfire Association ( ARA ), and the Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners ( MCGRO ), where I ’ m an applicant to instruct Concealed Pistol License ( CPL ) classes . I compete in ARA rimfire shooting matches and tournaments , as well as action pistol competition . I enjoy deer and turkey hunting ( bow , pistol and rifle ) and because of that , I ’ m really looking forward to hunting and fishing opportunities at CCR .

As for why I wanted to become a member , I really fell in love with the ranch from my first visit up there . I ’ m looking forward to big woods hunting opportunities that the ranch affords , as well as the use of the top-notch range facilities and the opportunity to continue to try to improve my skeet shooting / migratory bird hunting skills .
The John Zollars Family
My introduction to Canada Creek Ranch , came in the summer of 1946 , following the Second World War , and a nine -hour trip , from Wayne , Michigan in my father Lonnie ’ s 1939 Ford .
We were coming to the ranch to stay with my parents ’ best friends , George ( Red ) Temple and his wife Elaine , who were in the process of building the Temples Trading Post . Even as a boy of four or five , I remember the Temples , along with my parents and other couples gathering on a regular basis to play cards and talk about the war . Invariably someone would say “ hey Wes ” ( my middle name ) “ sing us one of those war songs , and after a few verses of “ from the halls of Montezume ” or “ Off we go into the wild blue yonder ”, everyone would laugh and applaud while dropping a nickel or a dime into my outstretched hand .
George and my father were avid sportsmen and carpenters . Hunting , fishing and building together and the Trading Post was George ’ s latest endeavor .
During this same time period my Uncle George Zollars bought a larger cabin on Lake Geneva , up the hill from the beach , which was called “ The Liberty Bell ”, owing to the large cast iron dinner bell that stood on a pole outside the front door . My older cousin Ronald and I always knew when it was time to get out of the water by the clanging of that old bell .
Shortly thereafter , my father and his brother , Ira Zollers , bought property only a few lots from each other on Hilltop Trail , just up the hill from Wilson Bridge . I remember them having to clear brush and cutting some trees to give them access before they could begin to build .
