President’ s Message
By Victoria Rakowski, President
The August meeting was filled with lots of agenda items. Here are the highlights.
Brian shared that the merger with the Hillman fire department is now complete. All our CCR firefighters are part of the new department. A huge thank you again for our firefighters’ years of dedication and service to the Ranch.
As a reminder, we have before our membership the Resource Fund proxy proposal. It calls for dues increase of $ 205.61 per year to make up for disappearing oil and gas revenues that support the outback. The inflation adjustment in future years is capped at either the annual rate of inflation or 5 %, whichever is lower. There has been a lot of misinformation and confusion posted in various forums. To find correct information, read the FAQs on the CCR site.
Bob Delecki resigned from the board, and the Board will fill his position for the remainder of the term which ends in December.
We approved many committee reports and minutes and here are a few highlights.
The Historical Committee is asking for pictures of shooting sports activities from over the years. If you have any to share, please send them in soon.
The Conservation Committee recommended a new rule that would mandate that all artificial debris from the hunting area be removed at the end of the season. The board approved the new rule. See rule 19.09 for further information. As it has always been said of our use of nature,“ leave it as you found it.”
I think we can all agree that the south entrance clean-up is spectacular, and we decided to wait for reevaluation before making any decisions on planting or other potential uses of the area.
Safety is always at the forefront at CCR and, based on recommendations of the committee, we approved of two actions:
1. To restrict paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes from the swimming area. Signage will be forthcoming.
2. That all cabin / homeowners have visible address signage. See the new rule for guidelines. We are hoping the new signage will appear over the next year.
The Investment committee recommended revisions to Policy and Procedure # 605 and # 606. The Board approved. This allows for more opportunities to grow our CCR investments in order to earn more money for the club.
Finally, because of on-going fire potential, the need for debris clean-up following the ice storm is still very important. We encourage members with lots to please make every effort to remove debris.
The campground committee still has another end-ofsummer event coming up. Trailer Trick or Treat will take place on August 30 from 7-8 p. m. There will be some special treats including making your own caramel apples and a costume contest with cash prizes. Campground Reminder: please clean up after your pets!
Next Board meetings will take place on September 20th along with the annual meeting.
