Continued from page 18 What was the Long-Term Financial Planning Committee tasked with? The Board tasked the committee with making the best recommendation to address future financial concerns related to CCR. With potential deficits in the Operating Fund, Capital Fund, and the Resource Fund, they were asked to recommend what may be palatable to the membership to generate additional revenues to maintain our services and amenities.
The committee looked 10 years ahead and predicted, based on the current known facts, that this increase would sustain the club’ s current efforts for our natural resource items for that time frame.
Who was on the Long-Term Financial Planning Committee? The committee was formed to include individuals who utilize CCR differently, come from diverse demographics, and have varied career backgrounds.
Dan Blanton is the current CCR Treasurer and has served in this role for the past four years. He is also the chair of this committee. Dan has either chaired or been a member of the Investment Committee for the past 13 years. His career background includes 23 years as a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments in Grand Rapids. Before that, he worked in sales management as a licensed engineer. Dan is a lifelong outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, hunting, kayaking, and hiking.
Mike Cramer has been a CCR member since 2011. He currently serves as the chairperson of the Campground Committee.
Cheryl Gault has been a CCR member since 2015. Cheryl is also a member of the Audit Committee and a former member of the Capital Fund Committee. Cheryl and her husband are retired and spend time at their cabin at CCR mostly during the summer and for snowmobiling. Their children and grandchildren are also members. Cheryl joined the various committees because she believed her background in finance would be useful.
Cheryl has a degree in Finance and spent over 30 years doing small business commercial and government lending. Cheryl also worked for a turn-around consulting firm assisting companies facing bankruptcy. Cheryl is a founding member of the Michigan Pet Alliance, a nonprofit, and was the bookkeeper and Finance Officer for over 20 years. This work and nonprofit experience required her to know how to review and assess financial statements of all types of businesses; to assess the strengths and weaknesses, cash flow, and the probability of future success, and to assist in creating a plan for the future. Cheryl hopes to lend her assistance to keep CCR financially healthy and viable into the future.
Charley Hatch first visited CCR as a guest in 1964 with his parents. Charley and his wife, Vickie, raised their family vacationing at CCR— first in rental cabins, then in the campground, and since 2008, in their home on Lake Geneva. While they are fulltime residents of Texas, they spend their summers and fall months at the ranch. They have enjoyed volunteering at various events and serving on committees that help protect and preserve the uniqueness of the CCR community.
After Charley’ s honorable discharge from the U. S. Air Force( 1972 – 1976, Aviation Crew Chief), he pursued both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration in Finance. Concurrently, he obtained his Aviation Pilot Credentials using his G. I. Bill benefits. As a commercial airline captain for 34 years, his career demanded not only technical expertise but also strong personal and organizational skills, holding him responsible and accountable for significant decisions.
Keith Ivkovich has been visiting CCR since 2005 with his father-in-law, Jon Perry, when he began dating Jon’ s daughter. Keith and his family became members in 2015. They have enjoyed kayaking the rivers, attending Beach Bash, hiking, camping, staying in the Ranch House, and— Keith’ s personal favorite— hunting. Keith’ s wife has been visiting CCR since she was a child, nearly 30 years ago. Canada Creek Ranch is their family’ s happy place, their respite— where they instantly feel a sense of relaxation and peace upon passing through the gate. One of their favorite experiences is stargazing from their cabin deck.
