PROPOSAL 2 APPLICATION FOR CLUB LICENSE PROPOSAL 3 GYPSY MOTH SUPPRESSION Proposal: To authorize the Board of Directors to apply for and obtain a Club License from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission. Proposal: To authorize an annual special assessment of up to $100.00 per certificate for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 for the purpose of gypsy moth suppression. Explanation: The devastating effects of gypsy moths in the cabin area, campground and beach recreation area are likely to jeopardize many of the shade trees and other foliage throughout the Association. This year’s damage from the gypsy moths has placed tremendous stress on the trees and foliage. If this continues, we may lose some of our weaker trees next year and possibly more if the stress continues for another year after that. The state has ceased funding for suppression (spraying) and as a result the County does not provide assistance. Explanation: The purpose of this proposal is to establish a club license for Canada Creek Ranch Association, Inc. (CCR). The State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission requires the membership to approve (by those voting at the annual meeting or via Proxy) the CCR Board of Directors the right to request a license. This club license would allow the sale of alcohol to members. Once a club license is obtained, CCR may only sell alcoholic beverages to bona-fide club members (those individuals in good standing, paying annual dues, and eligible to vote) who have attained the age of 21. Children of members or guests are unable to purchase alcoholic beverages directly from CCR. Members may purchase alcoholic beverages for their sponsored guests. Effective suppression (spraying) for gypsy moths can only be done during a limited period during the spring. Since the timing of the suppression (spraying) is critical to its success and since the window of opportunity is so small, the Association must take action now to assure funds are available in the future for gypsy moth suppression (spraying), which will preserve the valuable assets of the Association. The cost to CCR for initial capital assets (such as coolers, beverage-ware, taps, etc.), annual costs (excluding beverage inventory purchases) such as State of Michigan Fees and insurance premiums will be paid from existing CCR funds. Future capital assets (such as additional coolers, beverage- ware, taps, etc.) may be purchased later if the demand is deemed necessary. Therefore, the Board of Directors recommends an annual special assessment, in an amount to be determined annually by the Board of Directors, not to exceed $100.00 per certificate, for Membership years 2020, 2021 and 2022, to fund the cost of suppression (spraying) for the gypsy moths. The Board unanimously recommends a vote “FOR” this Proposal. These amounts will only be expended for gypsy moth suppression (spraying) in the cabin area, campground, and Ranch common area east of Canada Creek which is approximately 1,400 acres. CCR has received proposals and the current going rate for aerial spraying up to $100.00 per acre. The funds will be held in a segregated account of the Capital Account and any funds not expended in a given year will be carried forward in the Capital Account for use in future years’ gypsy moth suppression (spraying) programs. The Board recommends a vote “FOR” this Proposal. 4 th of July 3D Archery Shoot (July 7, 2019) The weather for the day was perfect to test the skills of 25 archers on the 3-D targets at the Pete Thomas CCR archery range. Their equipment ranged from compounds, recurves and longbows. Everyone had a great time. After the shoot the archers were awarded with door prizes. The 50/50 prize of $46 was won by Gary Kirsh of which he donated $41 dollars back to the archery committee. Gary Zechel donated some archery hunting accessories for door prizes. The archery committee thanks both of them for their donations. Thanks to all the people who helped to set up the 3-D targets on the course. Have a safe summer and shoot straight.
