Dale A. Berry Hoylande Ann Sokalski
(July 17, 1936 - July 06, 2019) March 15, 1932 - July 13, 2019
Age 82, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 in Lansing.
Dale was born, July 17, 1936 in Flint, MI to Cecil and Ida
Berry. He married Clara M. (Hodgman), on February 4, 1956
in Clio, MI. Dale retired from General Motors in 1986. For 63 years, dear wife of Stanley. Loving mother of Catherine
(Gary) Campbell, Caroline (Tom) Byrd, Margaret (Robert)
Lisius, Mary (Rick) Walquist, John (Cheryl) Sokalski, and
Andrea (Matt) Zander. Beloved grandmother to Dan, Beth,
Mitchell, Alex, Evelyn, Juliana, Grace, Stephen, Luke, Brielle,
Olivia, Bram, and Fern. Sister of Alan (Liz) Thebert, Linda
(Tony) Marchio, and Peggy (Charles) Sahlin. Sister-in-law to
Barbara (Larry) Strong and Fran Thebert. Aunt to numerous
nieces and nephews, and friend to many. Preceded in death
by parents William and Barbara Thebert; sisters Betty and
Connie; brothers Jim, Glenn, Bob, and Larry; and grandson
Bram.
He loved to hunt, fish, gardening and mowing lawns. Dale
and Clara were snowbirds for 20 years. Dale was a faithful
follower of Christ as a deacon and elder primarily at Pine
Run Church of Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Clara; sister,
Endora (Berry) Shook; 6 children, Margaret “Peggy” (Mark)
Dace, Doug Berry, Dawn (David) Degler, Jean (Dean) Hibbler,
Carol (Mark) Taylor and April (Matt) Babcock; 18
grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m. (rosary at 7:00), on July 26 at
Charles Step Funeral Home, 18425 Beech Daly, Redford, MI.
Funeral mass at 10 a.m., July 27, at Church of the
Transfiguration, 25225 Code Rd., Southfield, MI. Burial at Holy
Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 W. Ten Mile Rd., Southfield, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, July 13, 2019, 1:00
PM at West Lansing Church of Christ, 5505 W. St. Joseph Hwy.,
Lansing, MI 48917. A short visitation time will follow the
service. The family requests that instead of flowers that
memorial contributions be made to Great Lakes Christian
College, in memory of Dale.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Hoylande’s honor
to the Dementia Society of America or the American Heart
Association
