Manager’s Message Hello Members! Well, we made it through July. Thank you to everyone that has supported your club throughout the year, as it has been a crazy one. All the events this year have been affected and the Dining Room has had numerous operational hour changes. With all the changes, our membership still has proven to be great and supported all of the team’s efforts. The fall is fast approaching and as hunting seasons inch closer, I have a few reminders for everyone. Be sure you acquire your 2020 Small Game badge and 2020 Deer Hunting badge from the office prior to hunting. You may also pick up your archery and firearm season blind tags from the office after purchasing these badges. Remember the fees that we get from these sales are going directly back into the Food Plot and Wildlife Habitat Budgets. On this year’s Proxy you will be asked if you support a proposal for gypsy moth suppression for the next three years. Predicting next year’s invasion of gypsy moth caterpillars is very difficult, therefore CCR is looking at preparing a “war chest” of funds to be used for this specific purpose. As some of you may know, Montmorency County is also looking at a one-year, one-mil proposal that could generate up to $500,000 for the county. Recently, I contacted the Alpena - Montmorency County Conservation District regarding Montmorency County ‘s Millage Proposal. The Conservation District will not be coordinating the spraying effort, but they are collecting information for the county. In the discussion with the Conservation District, the spraying will be in pinpointed areas, because $500,000 will not cover all the private land in Montmorency County. The Conservation District will be conducting egg mass surveys this fall and then supplying those statistics to the county. The county will then decide whose private property gets treated and whose does not. Therefore, if the Montmorency County Millage Proposal is approved, it does not guarantee that CCR would be treated. Because the county proposal may be defeated, and the consideration that CCR may not get treated by the county if it did pass, the CCR Board of Directors decided to make sure we try and take care of ourselves. We can not rely on the County to provide this service to us either way. The choice is now in the member’s hands on spraying our cabin area. Please review the full CCR Gypsy Moth Proposal Language on this year’s ballot or online at www.ccra.club/moth. The Board of Directors are looking for the memberships’ input regarding recreational vehicle usage on CCR property. This survey is intended to gather member input to aid the Board in deciding whether, and to what extent, our current rules should be changed. The Board is asking you to complete a short survey located at http://www.ccra.club/survey. If you prefer to complete a survey by hand, please stop by or contact the office to receive a paper version. Members have until August 13, 2020 to complete the survey so results can be reviewed at the August 22, 2020 Board of Directors’ Meeting. As a reminder, each member may submit a survey (a husband and wife on the same member number can submit separate surveys). In closing, I hope to see everyone’s smile very soon. These masks hide that valuable trait that we all have. Please remember that I am always willing to listen to your suggestions and comments to make CCR better than ever.
