Salvage Treatments Underway in Hunting Areas
Dear Members,
I want to inform you that salvage treatments in the hunting area have officially begun. This critical work is being conducted to address the significant tree damage caused by the devastating ice storm of 2025, which severely impacted large sections of our forest. The affected areas were left with extensive breakage, downed limbs, and hazardous fuel loads, which now pose increased risk for insect infestations and disease.
To mitigate these risks and promote long-term forest health, we have begun salvage cuts as recommended by our forester and wildlife biologist in the following areas:
• Red Pine stands near Rye Field # 4,
• Jack Pine stands near the north end of Homestead Road,
• Jack Pine and Red Pine stands on Homestead Road near gas site 41.
Members can expect to see heavy equipment and logging trucks operating in these zones throughout the summer months. They will be using Homestead Gate as their primary access to the property. Please use caution when traveling near or through these areas, and stay clear of active work zones for your safety and the safety of our contractors.
We encourage all members to review the treatment location maps, which are available for viewing at the Ranch Office and on our website under Member Items- > Documents- > Forestry / Wildlife Info. These maps will help you understand which sections of the property are currently under treatment.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to restore and strengthen the health of our forest. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’ t hesitate to reach out.

The next wine tasting will be on Tuesday, June 17, at 7:00 pm in the Bickley Room. The cost is $ 10.00 per person. This month we will be providing the wine and asking every couple to bring a snack to share. Please sign up at the Ranch House.
We are planning another Bake Sale at Beach Bash, on July 5.
We also have an ongoing food drive to benefit The Caring Place in Atlanta. There is a bin in the vestibule of the Ranch House where the food can be placed.
We are continuing our service project of collecting clean T shirts to make Produce Bags for the Atlanta Farmers Market. If you have any T shirts to donate to this ongoing project, please place them in the box in the vestibule of the Ranch House.
