Committee Members supporting Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun
Special thanks to Lanny Cotner for his leadership as committee chairman in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Thanks also to the 2019 active
committee members Gary Zechel, Terry Sanborn, Chuck Thurston, Lawrence Michiels, Ron Flore, Bill Hankes, Mike Krupnec
and Ron Suszek.
Shotgun Subcommittee
Chuck Thurston, Subcommittee Chairman
The shotgun subcommittee ran scheduled shooting on weekends during the active summer months. The shooting
was managed with a ranch employee for 4 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday. Committee members also
assisted as needed. This range management approach leads to the best availability of shooting hours for ranch
members.
Shotgun Range Improvement Using Committee Funds
Installed a shotgun patterning target frame.
Sporting Clays Proposal
The Shooting Sports committee prepared a proposal for installing a Sporting Clays course. Ron Flore presented the
proposal to the Board of Directors. The Board and the Committee do not have adequate funds for the project.
Further funding options are under consideration. The proposal is still open for discussion.
Shotgun Range Funding
Shotgun Income YTD in 2019 (Rounds, Ammo, etc.): $2,420.00. The budgeted Amount was $2,400.00.
Shotgun range use is on the decline. The committee will work to improve participation in 2020.
Shotgun custodial account balance $ 1,021.62
2020 Strategic Planning
The committee is reviewing long-term range upgrades that the Board should be aware of.
1) Handicap accessibility for the Rifle and Pistol ranges.
This improvement would require installation of a parking pad and access sidewalk joining the pistol
range, 25-yard house, and 100-yard house. Estimated cost TBD.
2) Pistol range paving and roof.
This improvement would provide members with a pistol range shooting facility like the rifle range
houses. It would require a concrete slab and a roof covering over the small pistol range area. Estimated
cost TBD.
3) Sporting Clays Course
Est. $96K to 109K over four years. Funding options under review.
